Hello everyone. As you may know, my sweet spicy girl just turned 8. Over this past winter and summer we started noticing Blue slowing down. We thought it was early onset arthritis. Wich didn’t surprise us since most of her life has been filled with backpacking and hiking. It is her favorite activity after all. But she significantly got worse, and the arthritis medication wasn’t working. All of a sudden she was struggling to get up, lye down, and walk. Something in my gut knew it was something else. We finally got an MRI. Unfortunately they discovered a tumor in her neck, lodged in the spinal column and spreading to the nerves. The news was a punch to the gut and boy did I cry. I kept asking myself how can this be? We were just hiking over the summer? We have so many more miles and treks planned, this can’t be it right? I am now kicked into over drive trying to raise funds for her, get appointments done - while at the same time trying to honor Blue’s happiness and well being. She may not be able to backpack or hike anymore, but if we can get her to the point where she can freely walk and enjoy the park, the streams and sunbath in the grass…..I think she will be happy to live that kind of life. We are doing everything we can to fight for blue and advocate for her to get the best care possible. Our plan is to seek radiation treatment at MedVet in Salt Lake City and start therapy at Utah Pet Rehab. We are hoping to shrink the tumor, so Blue can reach more mobility. More mobility means more time outside, less pain and more time with her. Please consider donating to our cause and help Blue get the best care possible. She is our everything 🩵
