We did around 100 miles in the Canadian backcountry and it did not disappoint! I have listed our favorite trails. Whether there day hikes, or short outings it won't disappoint!
 

Below are our favorite trails around Canmore with trail facts and info! Some trails do require a permit to enter as well as parking fees and dog restrictions. We hope this helps you get outside and enjoy some of Canada's best views! Don't forget your bear spray!

Smutwood Peak​ 

Kananaskis​

  • Mileage : 11.1 miles out & back

  • Rating: Hard (scramble)

  • When to go : June-October

  • Length : 6-7 Hours

  • Dogs allowed on leash

  • How to get there : Just off the Mount Shark Road, park at the Tryst Lake & Mount Smutwood Trailhead. Unpaved road to trailhead.

  • Mileage : 12.6 miles out & back

  • Rating : Hard

  • When to go : June-October

  • Length: 7-8 Hours

  • Dogs allowed on leash

  • How to get there : Park at the Floe Lake Trailhead off the Banff Windermere prkwy

  • Rating : Easy

  • When to go : June-October

  • Length : 1.5 hours

  • Out and Back

  • How to get there : Must reserve a shuttle, you cannot park there.
