High Uinta Wilderness
Ibantik Lake
The High Uintas Wilderness encompasses 456,705 acres and stretches nearly 60 miles east to west. It is a spectacular area with hundreds of glacier-formed lakes reflecting blue skies and Utah's highest peaks. As an Utah local, the Uintas is a favorite! A Wilderness that is right in our backyard! So much room for exploration! Ibantik Lake is a beginner friendly trail (a perfect first backpacking trip) and can easily be done as a day hike. I've gone in every summer month and have never seen it busy! There are plenty of smaller lakes around to check out with great fishing.

NIGHT 1 : Ibantik Lake
This is one of my first backpacking trips! Beginner friendly with lots of small lakes and wildflowers on the way. The hardest part of the trail was going up and over The Notch. I do this often as a day hike, but backpacking it is pretty awesome with plenty of smaller lakes in the area to explore. You can easily extend your trip with how many options there are nearby. Great fishing spot and definitely recommend taking a cold plunge. Takes about 2-3 hours to reach Ibantik.
